Repair and labor cost analysis ††

Bar Chart: A/C Compressor ~$1750, Transmission ~$6410, Engine ~$8586, Navigation System ~$4500.

†† The repair parts prices set out above are average part prices for fifteen common passenger vehicles on the road today. The labor charges are an average of associated repair rates and times for the repairs on the same fifteen vehicle models obtained from nationally and recognized labor and repair time manuals, plus a 10% inflationary adjustment.

A vehicle service contract extends coverage beyond the manufacturer’s warranty period and often pays for repairs not covered by your manufacturer’s warranty, as well as covers the cost of a rental vehicle while yours is being repaired.

Chart showing Green Manufacturer Warranty line partially overlapping with Blue Vehicle Service Contract line.
  • A VSC provides coverage for the cost of parts and labor associated with eligible repairs based on your plan selection
  • Repair your vehicle virtually anywhere – you can have repairs made at your selling dealership or through any ASE-certified repair shop across the U.S.
  • Transferrable to the next vehicle owner, offering potentially higher resale value
  • A small deductible may apply per covered repair

Bridge the GAP

Nothing can be quite as exciting as driving your new vehicle off the dealership lot for the first time. Unfortunately, a new vehicle’s value typically depreciates at a fast rate. If you are making loan payments and your vehicle is stolen and not recovered, totaled in an accident, or damaged beyond repair due to a natural disaster, your auto insurance alone may not be enough to cover the outstanding balance. Insurance typically covers the vehicle’s actual cash value rather than the total amount remaining on your loan. This could leave a financial “gap” of thousands of dollars, a gap you would be responsible for paying.

Guaranteed Auto Protection (GAP) offers financial protection and peace of mind, waiving or canceling the remaining balance of your vehicle loan after the payment from your insurance company.* Your insurance deductible of up to $1,000 may also be covered.

Chart: Y axis dollar amounts from $15,000 to $75,000. X axis Loan Terms (in years) 1-5. Inside X & Y axis Vehicle Value, Vehicle Loan Balance, What GAP Covers are charted.

Benefits:

  • Covers negative equity
  • Insurance deductible of up to $1,000 may be covered
  • Helps maintain your good credit
  • Cost can be added to your vehicle’s monthly payment

* The amount cancelled could be limited if the amount of the loan or lease exceeds a certain percentage of the actual value of the covered vehicle. The amounts cancelled vary, and there may be amounts for which you remain liable. Please consult your GAP agreement for full details of the terms and conditions of this coverage.

How does Universal Security Guard® Work?

Purchase the Universal Security Guard® System the same day your vehicle is purchased.
Technicians at the dealership will apply visible warning labels and uniquely numbered retro-reflective labels to six hidden panels on your vehicle, such as the underside of the hood and trunk lids and next to the locking mechanism on each door. These labels penetrate the paint finish to provide a permanent ID.
If a label is removed, an imprint is left behind and can only be seen under ultraviolet light.
If your vehicle is stolen, report it to local police within 24 hours and follow all instructions outlined in the Claims Procedure section of your warranty contract to file a claim.

What are the benefits of Universal Security Guard®?

If your vehicle is stolen, despite having the theft deterrent system in place, you are eligible for reimbursement* of theft-related expenses as long as the warranty requirements are met.**

These expenses include:

  • Insurance policy deductible
  • Immediate transportation (i.e., rental charges)
  • Registration fees for a replacement vehicle
  • Mechanical inspection fees

* The maximum available benefit amount is stated in the contract, but the maximum payable benefit will not exceed the actual cash value of the vehicle on the date of loss.

** Be sure to keep a copy of your vehicle theft settlement payment by your insurance carrier, a copy of your primary insurance company’s proof of loss, a copy of the theft report/police report, and a copy of your Universal Security Guard® warranty contract.

What is not covered with Universal Security Guard®?

There are some situations when Universal Security Guard® does not provide coverage. These include, but are not limited to:

Theft not reported to local police within 24 hours of discovery of the theft
Vehicle stolen by a person with access to vehicle keys or a person who is named as insured on the primary insurance for the covered vehicle
Theft not reported to contract provider as required in the Claims Procedure section
Theft that occurred outside the United States

Avoid lease-end charges that could break your budget

When leasing a vehicle, you can be held accountable for its condition at the end of your lease. This includes the vehicle’s interior and exterior. While auto insurance may cover specific damage, regular wear and tear or other damage to the vehicle is your responsibility. Lease Wear & Use coverage can help alleviate some of the uncertainty that comes with your lease return. You can enjoy a more carefree driving experience with less worry about unexpected expenses.

Benefits of Lease Wear & Use

  • No deductible
  • Up to $5,000 of charges related to lease wear and use may be covered at lease-end
  • Plan cost can be included in your monthly lease payments

What lease-end charges may be covered?

Tire damage
Exterior dents or scratches
Paint cracks or chips
Missing interior or exterior parts
Interior stains, rip or burns to the leather/upholstery
Cracked, chipped or broken windshield or windows

How does Lease Wear & Use work?

At the end of your lease term, your vehicle must be inspected by a third-party inspection company, not the dealership. The resulting inspection report determines the amount of wear and use on your vehicle. If you have Lease Wear & Use coverage, the plan administrator will issue payment directly to the lessor on your behalf for all covered wear and use. Any amount not covered by this plan would be your responsibility.
